Everything people ask us, answered plainly.
The household's neutral referee: you agree in advance on the conditions (homework, reading, a tidy room…) that open up screens and activities; the app checks they're met. When the question comes, the answer is already written.
No, and that's by design. Points don't accumulate: they open up the day, or the week, then reset. No growing balance, no debt either, and the guaranteed minimum stays earned even on a bad day. Okilou doesn't sell anything to anyone: it checks that what you agreed on was done.
The conditions are yours to write, together, and they follow the child's age. At 4: putting toys away, getting dressed alone. At 9: homework, reading, setting the table. At 15: schoolwork on track, a decent bedtime, one phone-free meal. A household task can be part of it if it makes sense in your family, but Okilou is not a chore list with a price tag: the age templates (3-17) are only a starting point, everything can be changed, nothing is imposed.
No. Okilou doesn't block any app, doesn't cut off any screen, and sees nothing of what your child does on their device. The app only knows what you and your child declare in it. It says whether the conditions are met; what you do next stays a family matter.
The essentials of Okilou are free, with no ads. Plus and Family plans exist for families with more than one child, a third adult or two homes, with a 14-day free trial. Without a subscription, profiles beyond the first simply pause: nothing is ever deleted, and everything can be reactivated at any time.
iPhone/iPad and Android (phones and tablets). Okilou is available on the App Store and Google Play in France (and on the App Store in Switzerland).
No. Okilou runs entirely on your phone. The account (email, Google or Apple) is only needed to sync with a second parent or the child's device, or to restore your home on a new phone.
Yes, entirely. Everything is saved on the device, and sync catches up as soon as the connection returns.
That's Oki! Okilou's mascot. He pops up when an effort is declared or validated: a smile, a sparkle, and on we go. Around here, “Oki!” means “noted, well done”: it's the word children tap to confirm, never a judge keeping watch.
A child's declaration stays "pending" until a parent validates it, from the app or right from the notification. For well-established routines you can switch a behavior to automatic validation, and you can withdraw a validation at any time (traced, never erased).
Never. There's no negative balance and no debt: what's earned stays earned. A slip-up can be noted, and above all repaired. The child-facing vocabulary stays positive, always.
From 3 to 17, with age-appropriate templates: little ones get simple gauges and nothing required; teens get a weekly gauge and rewards that speak to them. Each child has their own profile and rules.
No. The reward menu is yours: screen-time minutes, an extra bedtime story, a pool trip, pizza night… Children can also add wishes of their own, which you turn into rewards in one tap.
Yes: each child has their own profile, and can have their own PIN on a shared tablet. Parents switch between them in one tap.
The parents' area can be protected by a PIN. On the child's own device (paired in child mode), there simply is no parents' area: the child can check off efforts and start their rewards, nothing else.
Settings → invite an adult: a code (or QR) to enter on their phone, valid for 7 days. They see the same children, and can validate and send encouragement just like you do.
It's the heart of what Okilou does. You invite the other home, choosing the mode: shared rules (co-administered, everyone sees the same thing) or independent (each home has its own rules; the child keeps one journey). Then you set the rhythm (week A/B, 2-2-5-5, weekends) with one-off swaps when real life happens. On "other home" days, the screen stays calm and nobody validates on the other home's behalf.
Yes, child by child, in Settings. Their access ends immediately; their past validations stay in the history; nothing is rewritten. A child's last responsible adult cannot remove themselves.
Nowhere, as long as you have no account: everything stays on the device. With an account, data is hosted in the European Union (Paris), solely for sync. Zero ads, zero tracking, no resale, ever. Details in our privacy policy.
A first name (or nickname!) and an age. No birth date, no school, no mandatory photo, and no health data, by design.
In the app: Settings → Delete my account (immediate, your GDPR right). You can export your data to a file first. Detailed procedure on the account deletion page.
